(1982) Fanny And Alexander.
(In Swedish with English subtltles).
Was said to be director Ingmar Bergman's last film, most personal and simply one of his finest! Tells the tale of two kids orphaned after their father has passed only for the mother to remarry again without any of the kids consent to a narcissistic evil stepfather!
Somwhat of a fable with a clocking time of 188 minutes, this was originally a long tv movie series for Swedish televison with the original running time of 312 minutes (5 hours and 12 minutes), I have yet to see but would love to, since what I did saw were very subtle, magical and poetic and was wondering, after seeing this 188 minute version, how much more subtle can the movie be! It should be optional for adults to be given the opportunity to own and view this longer version that was also seen, since audiences liked what they saw from the 188 minute version!
4 out of 4.
