Review of Fanboys (2009) by Drew C — 03 Mar 2010
It's like a Kevin Smith movie with the "Star Wars Geekism" knob cranked up to eleven. While it looks and feel like a Kevin Smith movie, it unfortunately doesn't have the smartness of Kevin Smith's dialogs. Nevertheless, it has a lot of funny moments (e.g the face off between SW fans and Trekkies) and has a heart in the right place.
With over a dozen of cameos from the likes of Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Kevin Smith (of course) and William "The Shat" Shatner, and twice as many nods to Star Wars (and pretty much everything George Lucas related ever), Fanboys is a must see for Star Wars fans.
Fanboys doesn't make fun of us, Star Wars fans, but rather celebrates our geekiness and makes us proud, rather than ashamed, to know what planet Chewbacca is from and in how many parsecs Han Solo made the Kessel run.
