Review of Family Plot (1976) by Randy P — 01 Nov 2008
Alfred Hitchcock's final film. It's not on my long list of movies, but it counts anyway because it's Hitchcock. It's certainly not as suspenseful as other Hitchcock efforts, but the spirit is there in the shot sequences and the way the environment is portrayed.
I especially loved the way the chandelier was framed any time it was in the picture. The story is kind of weak, but the acting is solid, especially from Barbara Harris, and the movie never fails to be entertaining.
While many would expect more than that from Hitchcock, let's remember how old he was getting at this point and realize that it's unfair to compare this to his earlier masterpieces. Recommended.
