Review of Family Plot (1976) by Irvin C — 23 Jun 2011
I know very little about this film apart from the fact that it's Alfred Hitchcock's last feature. Though it's far from his masterpiece, it's also quite one of his more underrated works.
It is spectacularly entertaining, way above average comic thriller involving a phony psychic, a lost heir and jewel thieves/kidnappers. The foursome of Karen Black, Bruce Dern, Barbara Harris and William Devane are terrific.
Despite this being his last film, Hitchcock did not show signs of slowing down. He still managed to put together an exciting and visually ingenius piece of cinematic entertainment which still outdoes many thrillers of the same vein then and now.
