Review of Falling in Love (1984) by Sri N — 10 Jan 2010
This tightly constructed and trim romantic drama has been mostly forgotten but is blessed by beautifully underplayed performances from DeNiro and Streep (this was during the time they were establishing themselves as the acting heavyweights for which they are now recognised) as two happily married strangers who just happen to meet and forge a connection, which in turn grows deeper then either could have guessed and thus leading to moral dilemmas and the chance of heartbreak.
Maybe the supporting characters are a little light, but this is a very gentle and sweet romance that wisely just focuses on the two leads.
