Review of Fallen (1998) by David S — 21 Jul 2009
Fallen is a wink-wink serious Hollywood take on Abrahamic mythology that falls flat on its face. At times it feels like it's going to explode into full-on crazy Left Behind diatribe, only to be reigned back by genre conventions.
The acting and cinematography are first rate. The story suffers from a nebulous villain and wishy-washy religion. If you want a movie that takes Biblical mythology at face value and won't insult you with Hollywood white wash or church evangelism, watch The Rapture (directed by Michael Tolkin).
