Review of Faith Like Potatoes (2006) by Duncan P — 11 May 2009
A really good story that was not presented so well. The acting left plenty of room for improvement. The movie is character driven, but lacks character develpment. Finally, the movie does not do justice to the everyday life struggles of Angus Buchan. With the exception of the death of his nephew the movie moves in a very predictable way for Christian films. His life's a total wreck, he gets saved, and everything's all better. A very cliche and untrue to life approach. Much more could be said about his struggles to live out the faith.
The redeeming factor of the movie isn't the movie itself, but the story behind the movie. That is why I would strongly recommend watching the documentary attached if you have a DVD copy. The documentary is much more realistic in terms of presentation. The whole film should have been an extended version of the documentary.
