Review of Fail Safe (1964) by Scott K — 20 Jan 2009
This movie proves that there was a time when directors and producers made a movie truly based off of a novel, and didn't change many things from the original narrative. The acting is great, and the movie is tense the entire way through.
Camera work is impressive. Only thing that could have been better were the external aircraft shots of the "Vindicators," but I realize there were probably budget issues, and they used a lot of it on the "high-tech" computer screens.
The beginning is a little slow moving, but it quickly speeds up once the hammer drops. If you're interested in militaristic thrillers, and what-if scenarios, this movie impresses.
