Review of Fail Safe (1964) by Tim J — 25 Nov 2012
Best thing I've seen in ages. Starts feeling a little cold and untidy, but the tension soon starts to build and doesn't stop.
Walter Matthau as a straight actor was astonishingly good at being evil and Larry Hagman did a fine job with the nervous translator.
Sorry Stanley, but I enjoyed this far more than Dr Strangelove.
Sidney Lumet keeps making great films through the decades. Just saw Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. Amazing to think of The Hill, 12 Angry Men, Dog Day Afternoon... that's some legacy.
