Review of Fading Gigolo (2013) by Aletia M — 06 May 2014
John Turturro has made a decent film with Fading Gigolo but in the end it really has nothing to say. The cast is very good and Woody Allen is as charming as ever. The film does seem a bit indulgent but it manages to be a fun yarn especially when Woody Allen is on screen.
The script is lakcing but Turturro has a very interesting visual eye and manges to make a visually striking film with his cinematographer. The jazz like score is also good and the film itself reminds of minor Woody Allen films.
Both fun but also dull at times but in the end enjoyable.
