Review of Factotum (2005) by Anjie T — 04 Feb 2007
I just did not like this movie very much at all. Matt Dillon is excellent but I just don't like the character. He is depressing. Matt Dillon plays an alcoholic writer. He goes from one shitty job to another, writing & mailing his stories off to some magazine somehwere. At one point he has an alcoholic girlfriend, Jan, played by Lili Taylor, whom I adore, but he leaves her for..... who knows why exactly. He meets Marissa Tomei & these weird people. And then he moves on again. Then he starts thinking about Jan, again & looks for her. They get back together, only to break up again. Maybe this movie is deeper than what my mind was ready for tonight. Maybe I missed something, who knows.
I'm giving it 6 of 10 because of Matt Dillon, one of his best performances ever. Made me glad I was not in his shoes!!!
