Review of Faces of Death (1978) by Andrew P — 18 May 2009
When I was younger, saying you had seen "Faces of Death" - most likely via some old bootleg your older cousin had - gained you instant stardom. It was so gruesome, so disgusting that you had to watch it after midnight with the sound turned way down so your parents didn't know.
But having seen it I can't believe anyone would be so stupid as to think this was real. Even the "actors" pretending to be alligator victims or cannabalistic cult members put forth minimal effort to make you believe what you're seeing is real.
And to insult to injury, the movie has the nerve to get preachy during the last half hour, claiming we need to clean up our earth or else we'll be the next to face some gruesome death.
