Review of Faces of Death (1978) by Jordan L — 19 Jul 2009
I hate faces of death. I shared a room with two older brothers when I was 9 years old and was forced to watch this, I had nightmares, and so on.
I saw this film in my American Film class 2 years ago. I was dreading the very thought of watching this again, It was safe to say that I was scared shit less preparing for this film, but because I am majoring in Film, I liked this class and the professor and him for showing to the class many great films to us students.
I was shocked, when in fact that this film qualified as a mondo film than a real life shock documentary, I was told that this film was in fact made for a Hollywood studio, Rumor has it that many big time "special effects" people worked to make this happen.
Now, you're thinking to yourself if you've seen this, that I am talking out of my ass, and I know nothing about this film.
This film was released on blu-ray a few months ago. I purchased it just for the commentary from the director, explaining that the film is indeed, fake.
I am aware though that later installments are real.
Post scriptum. the only known "real scenes" of Faces of Death are the mortuary scenes.
