Review of Faces (1968) by Dave A — 17 Nov 2007
Unnerving personal drama and one of the frontrunners to personal cinema and independent film. This was improvised by it's cast and then scripted from such improvisations to create this unrelenting and bold look at marital discourse (unheard of in the 60's at the time).
This purely independent and anti-mainstream drama has a quarreling couple's shaky marriage slowly boiling with infidelity and personal turmoil. Faces is a movie not to be taken lightly and it's not like any polished Hollywood production, but a purely independent film made outside of Hollywood as only an independent film director could make it.
