Review of Faces (1968) by Tony P — 15 May 2007
A brilliant dramatic character sudy, Faces is almost excruciating in its intensity. Thrown deep into the shallow upper-middle-class of the 1960's, we are given a shockingly real depiction of bored life- thanks to the cast. Every second twists you, every moment is uncomfortable, like a middle-aged man humiliating himself for the affection of a prostitute, the reality behind social situations- where the care, the affectio truly resides is often knowledge you'd rather not have, but the director gives it to you anyway.
Utterly unique.
