Review of F for Fake (1973) by Marissa S — 14 Oct 2007
Another one of my favorite movies ever and definitely one of the most brilliant documentaries ever made, which questions the nature of artistic and cinematic truth. Welles always billed himself as a kind of trickster and illusionist, and this challenging, entertaining, and thought-provoking exposition explores all that means.
Many documentary filmmakers could learn a great deal from Welles' witty handling of the dilemmas of the genre.
