Review of Eyes Without a Face (1960) by Katie W — 24 Feb 2011
This was an interesting movie, despite the overacting and the extreme close-ups. It's about a doctor who is trying to fix his daughter's face after she is horribly disfigured in a car accident. The doctor and his assistant nurse end up kidnappy girls and stealing their faces to graft onto the daughter's face.
The most amusing part is that the nurse has her own theme music. Every time she appears or is about to appear this somewhat sinister carnival-like music starts playing.
I wouldn't recommend watching the DVD's included documentary. It's about slaughterhouses in France in the 50s and five minutes into it they kill a horse right on screen. I guess I should've been expecting it, given the topic of the documentary, but I didn't think they'd actually show the guys killing the horse. I stopped watching it after that.
