Review of Eyes Without a Face (1960) by Wut S — 24 Feb 2011
Mad doctor, devoted assistant, troubled daughter, murdered young girls, lobotomy, police investigation, moody landscapes... all contributing to the accomplishment of this 1962 identity horror akin to the likes of Hitchcock.
Eyes Without a Face has an augmented symbolic, mysterious tone with its dark, rich timbre. Assurance of the wrong-doers' ultimate downfalls can be predicted from the start, but the film successfully portrayed the hubris in a fascinating fashion by inserting mesmerizing scenes and disturbing events.
