Review of Eyes Wide Shut (1999) by Scottie T — 02 May 2015
Eyes Wide Shut was a great end for Kubrick. I dont think this was his best film, but it was definatley made with care and in the end, it was a great movie. Great Direction obviously, its kubrick. Also filled with spectacular performances, a great score, and some nice cinematography in scenes.
This has been my second time viewing this film and I liked it alot more. I watched it for the first time in March 2015, it is now May 3rd and I didnt find it slow like I did before, I found it to be a good pace, and generally just enjoyable and eerie throughout.
The writing is so great that the "slow parts" as people say, weren't slow, it's dialogue and you are supposed to listen to it and understand whats going on. There are a few hidden messages that come clear ( for myself obviously ) without watching analyzed videos and thoughts on the film.
This is one of Kubrick's best, and I am happy that this is the last thing he made for his fans. If you havent seen Eyes Wide Shut yet, I reccomend you do. Consider these words a warning.
