Review of Eyes Wide Shut (1999) by Alex G — 21 Jul 2010
Many people don't like this one. The first time I watched it I thought What! But then, I remembered I thought that after every Kubrick film. I watched it many times and I'll watch it again because it keeps getting better each time.
I think that every Kubrick film deals with the nature of an individual set within the dynamics of a group. He explores the duality of nature within us all in a very bazaar setting where the line between good and evil is often blurry and shocking.
There is also the relationship between the individual and the group that parallels the idea that makes it hard to understand just how different we are from each other.
