Starring: Faye Dunaway, Tommy Lee Jones, Brad Dourif, Rene Auberjonois, and Raul Julia.
Directed by Irvin Kirschner.
Written by John Carpenter and David Zelag Goodman.
Rated R (strong violent/sexual images, and for some language).
Running time approximately 1 hour 44 minutes.
Irvin Kirschner's 1978 thriller Eyes of Laura Mars boasts one of the goofiest premises imaginable...and yet I found myself unusually intrigued. Faye Dunaway stars as controversial fashion photographer Laura Mars, who one day is suddenly able to see through the eyes of a killer. Who's being killed? People she knows; so, right away, she and her personnel are prime suspects (her personnel moreso, since she's seen as a nutcase most of the time). The big disappointment is the obvious ending, which I found to be extremely anticlimactic. Don't get me wrong, there are some great scares, but I would have expected more from John Carpenter, who went on to direct the classic horror film Halloween that very same year. **1/2 (out of ****) B-.
