Review of Eye in the Sky (2007) by Be G — 22 Jun 2016
Not clear why this received such glowing reviews. It is a DULL movie with some kinda cool technology. The viewer is given little context with which to understand what they're looking at, no critical thinking engaged, just a bunch of bad-guy Muslim fanatics (that's novel) and a little girl we definitely do not want to get blown to bits (particularly not with such a lovely little hula hoop).
The building of tension is weak because much of the cast is not believable in their roles. Way too much circular (circle jerk?) dialogue that leads almost nowhere doesn't help either. And just how far into the movie do you start to seriously engage questions about the ethics and legality of targeted assassination and drone (video game) warfare? I don't know because I couldn't finish it! Blech.
Pass.
