Review of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011) by Gabriel H — 02 Aug 2012
The plot was decent, even if it had a few holes, but the protagonist was unpleasant. That kid needed to be taught some manners, and as a seventeen-year-old I'm rarely an advocate for reigning in your children.
It also tried to incorporate some aspects of "The Tin Drum" (a great novel) which simply didn't make sense with the setting. No mother would let her child roam the streets of New York alone, no matter what she thought it might help him come to terms with.
