Review of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011) by Matt C — 31 Dec 2013
Safran Foer's novels are usually a little muddled, a little too knowingly kooky and generally inappropriately exploit human tragedy...this adaptation ticks most of those boxes. Hanks is excellent, Bullock pretty miscast and the young lead just about avoids slipping into plain annoying but it still never completely works.
It finishes, and you'll probably just shrug and say that was alright.
