Review of Extreme Prejudice (1987) by Shane W — 30 Aug 2009
This underrated film from master filmmaker Walter Hill deserves far more praise than it gets. First rate performances from its entire cast especially Nolte, Boothe and Ironside, elevate it above other films of its type.
Hill's beautiful and majestic shots of Texas and Mexico are definitely one of the high points here. The excellently staged action sequences are above par and the ending is expertly handled as an obvious homage to Peckinpah's classic The Wild Bunch.
As a huge and respectful fan of Hill's body of work I can say, without question, I consider Extreme Prejudice to be his masterpiece.
