Review of Extreme Prejudice (1987) by Michael T — 11 Jun 2008
Walter Hill's 1987 film, EXTREME PREJUDICE is an interesting action film with Nick Nolte starring as a Texas Ranger, Powers Booth as his former best friend who is now a drug kingpin in Mexico, and Maria Conchito Alonso as the woman torn between the two men.
What sets out to be a classic modern retelling of a classic Western plot (two men with similar backgrounds take different paths in life and wind up as polar opposites and enemies) gets confused when Michael Ironside and a team of elite U.S. Army commando-types show up in the small Texas town that the Ranger lives in and that the drug dealer launders his money in. So the plot becomes kind of confused at times, the focus shifts from the antagonistic relationship between Nolte and Booth and starts focussing on Ironside and his gung-ho team. But it is an enjoyable outing.
