Review of Extraterrestrial (2014) by Alan R — 02 Oct 2015

Extraterrestrial was quite a mixed bag; the performances were iffy, the dialogue was cheesy, the soundtrack was overdramatic and overemphasized, and the cliches were running rampant.

However, this movie had some real positives going for it. The effects and visuals were very polished and stylized, the whole movie had an entertaining zest to it, and at the very least there was noticeable effort towards characterization. Also, the final act of the movie showed off some seriously awesome visual and conceptual storytelling that made the entire movie so far feel a lot more compelling. The final act did an amazing job of suddenly crafting an entire world around this alien species and its relationship with Earth that would be well worth exploring in any possible sequels.

Overall, definitely worth a watch. Just don't expect anything spectacular.
