The heroine starts with a statement: The world hates her, because she's a meter maid.
Samantha Morton is just tremendous, acting quite another kind of American woman. She's shy, quiet, without any other ambitions than being this loser and just live this life through. When she meets this emotionally completely hurt man. No, he doesn't slaughter her.
When you get out of the cinema, you are once again reminded that there are many ways to live a decent life.
