Review of Experimenter (2015) by Svengali K — 21 Oct 2015
I feel a little disappointed with this movie. I expected more due to the source of the story: The series of investigations conducted in the 60's by psychologist Stanley Milgram. I found the film for moments uninteresting, the decision to make it in a sort of documentary perspective not really fitting with the cast that suggest, to begin with, a story to tell, a drama to represent, not a cold account of the facts presented. I think Peter Sarsgaard talent was wasted. He doesn't seem even to be acting, he's just monolingual and stiff during a great deal of the story. Winona, if she ever knew how to act she's totally forgot how to do it.
Not a very good one and yet the introduction to a polemical and famous in his time experiment gave the movie a boost.
3 stars.
