Review of eXistenZ (1999) by Ravikiran A — 31 May 2009
Ah Cronenberg.. With yet another movie, with subtly introduced elements of symbolism, creates a whole new level of disturbance in the viewer. And best of all, the symbolism is subliminal, none of the overt references, nothing a casual glance might bring forth.
With a story of a futuristic world, exploring the concepts of reality, perception, the organic body, life and sensations, where even reality is malleable, actions preprogrammed, storylines decided.. a Very interesting movie, clearly a mindfuck movie, but as with other Cronenberg creations, dissectible to a large extent.
. Definitely worth watching.
