Review of Executive Decision (1996) by Jonathan G — 20 Dec 2008
...in which the big surprise isn't so much that Seagal dies (he does that metaphorically in every single performance anyway), as that a series of low-key, nuanced performances by the cast hold together very plausibly.
There are some gaping plotholes (the terrorists evidently haven't heard of timers, and it seems astonishing that their leader didn't think to check or guard the hold at any point, considering his weapon is down there) and some inevitably inconsistencies (Suchet/Nafi looks almost as surprised as the rest of us that he hasn't shot Halle Berry dead for repeatedly defying him), but it all plods along equably enough.
