Review of Excalibur (1981) by Anton B — 02 Feb 2010
I appreciate how John Boorman tried to follow Thomas Malory's "Le Morte d'Arthur," and therefore included the fantasy elements, brutal violence, and bizarre sexual episodes of Arthurian legend.
The production design is strange, the pace jumpy, and too many of the actors maniacally shout their lines, but the film is at times weirdly effective.
