Review of Exam (2009) by Leo L — 10 Jun 2010
Micro-budget, single set of scene, actors and actresses you might never seen before are what these type of movies have in common, plus they always want to attract your attention to figure out what's going on the next step and what'll happen in the end. Well some really did while many didn't, luckily "Exam" did a good job drawing my attention and didn't waste my time finishing it.
The title exam gives up a great lead to the purpose of the story, to examine 8 candidates to see if any one of them are qualified to be hired by the company and get the job everyone on earth would dream of. The writer makes a great puzzle by not telling us what's the method to solve the question and what the answer really is from the beginning. With 8 different candidates from different backgrounds, 8 different kind of personalities, and 3 simple rules, who will be the one to pass? And how will these candidates go through the Exam?
Humanity is what this movie really all about. If we were put into that kind of situation, will we do something different? Would you kill someone just to win a perfect job? As the Candidate number one said in the movie, the paper(exam itself) reflects who you are. There is nothing right or wrong about the exam itself, it's about who you are and how you do it. Well i'm pretty certain that I won't be killing anyone just to win a job, i'll be crazy or stupid enough by doing it but maybe i'll win the job by some cunning tricks or plots, meanwhile some others will choose different ways to do so.
