Atmospheric and claustrophobic, Ex Machina provides an excellent example of prime sci-fi that rises above the tendency to overwhelm an audience with special effects and action, and returns to the ideas and intricacies that truly make the genre my favourite.
Excellent performances and directing create an uneasy ride, and like most great sci-fis, keeps you engaged and thinking long after the ending.
