Having never seen the original but knowing its popularity I came into this with high expectations. In the end it was a bit of a let down. The quality of the acting seemed so-so, almost like the cast purposefully wasn't putting forth all of their effort.

The storyline was not so complicated you couldn't follow but it was almost too simple. If you're looking for a movie full of gore and a more than a few scary scenes this is it! For me, besides the lack of story development and believability I had a hard time looking past the candle in the basement that had been lit for years or the creek that is later referenced as a river.

Again, I only assume that because of the popularity if the original that the remake would have an emphasis on quality...not the case.
