Review of Evil Dead (2013) by Bill B — 15 Dec 2013
Gave this a look theatrically with the best of intentions to like it, but overall was left feeling more of the influences of other films in this one than impressed with what it did differently or better than the original iterations. There's nods to The Exorcist in there, and the gore and blood is played up to the hilt, but overall I never gave a shit about the characters, I never had much impression of them as friends beyond the info-dump exposition that told us who they were.
It's watchable, but I don't think it'll gain the same rabid fanbase that the original films have, and as a stand alone film, it's merely okay as far as other horror film go.
Worth a rental.
