Review of Evil Dead (2013) by Jason — 16 Oct 2014

I am a HUGE fan of the original evil dead trilogy. that being said, I really enjoyed the new evil dead but for very different reasons. first off, I love the fact that theres no ash character (except at the end of credits) to take me out of the movie by constantly comparing whoever would have played him with bruce Campbell. I tried to watch this movie with the other films out of my head which is probably why I loved it. I havent had a theater going experience with so much adrenaline fueled laughter in a long time. it was the most fun ive had in a theater with a film in a few years. im a lifelong horror fan who does not mind remakes. ill give them a shot. like most sequels, remakes are hit and miss. I dont necessarily think it's fair to say a remake sucks because its not as good as the original because very few ever will be. but do they do the original justice and provide a fun movie experience? many do but definitely not all. I believe evil dead stands tall in the category of good remakes. it may not be on the same level as the original evil dead but its a hell of a lot of fun especially if you have a dark sense of humor. my opinion of the new evil dead is the same for rob zombies halloween and the.

2013 version of carrie- I like the old and new versions nearly equally but for VERY different reasons.
