Review of Evil Dead (2013) by Brady R — 14 Oct 2013
An exceptionally worthy heir to the Evil Dead throne. Squirm-inducing gore, a good dose of black humor and absolutely gorgeous direction help to pull away from the admittedly lackluster writing (though the story is nice, fresh take on the typical).
Seeing what Alvarez and his team can do within the confines of a remake only amps up my excitement to see what they can do with more freedom in the coming sequel (hopefully sequels). With a bit more of the experimentation, craziness and surrealism that helped the original trilogy stand the test of time, I think this franchise could really find a permanent foothold in horror history.
