Review of Everyone Says I Love You (1996) by Mitch C — 07 Mar 2008
I don't know what it is, but something about this movie is just a little off. Whether it's the fact that it's a musical, but has a narrator too, I don't know. Or, maybe that the actors cannot sing or dance.
Or, maybe it's just starting to get tiring seeing a 60 plus Woody Allen hooking up with another hot younger actress (this time, Julia Roberts). Or, maybe just seeing a 60 plus yr old acting nervous and nerdy isn't quite as funny as when Allen was in his 20's or 30's, or even his 40's.
The bright side to this movie is that the last 2 or 3 scenes are nice. For one thing, there is a "professionally" done musical number with real singers, dancers, and choreography (even though it is really in the background in relation to the main movie).
For another, Woody connects with Goldie Hawn in a dream-like song and dance. If there would have been more interaction between these two it might have been a better movie. By the way, is Alan Alda Woody Allen's new Tony Roberts?
