Review of Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone (2011) by Tesia J — 09 Jan 2012
This doc was a (sometimes painfully) honest look at one of America's most UNDERRATED bands and how genius can be a curse and a blessing. What I loved most about it was the humor used in telling the story both on the side of the doc team and the actual musicians.
It takes a lot of courage to tell a story that's not always pretty and it takes a sort of "Grace" to tell it in a way that moves it's audience and brings them CLOSER to the subjects vs.
isolating them. I thought it was extremely well done and I plan on checking it out again. Also...some KICKASS footage of fishbone live which EVERYONE should experience at least ONCE in their lives. I gotta go out and RE BUY some of their old stuff now.
..forgot how awesome they were and ARE!
