This movie is a sequel of sorts to director Richard Linklater's classic Dazed and infused from the early 90s. That movie took place on a single night of the last day of high school in Texas. This movie retakes places over 3 days prior to college classes starting.

Like the earlier film, it features a large cast of mostly unknown actors drinking, having sex and partying. More than anything, the homoerotic subtext between the members of the baseball team, as they compete on everything from wh could take the longest hit from a bong to who could cry mercy first during a game of knuckles, makes this movie different from its predecessor.

Luckily, this movie is every bit as enjoyable as Dazed and Confused, due mostly to Linklater's clever dialogue and the affability I his actors. If anything else, Everybody Wants Sone reminds us of a time before the Internet, before cell phones, and even before the spread of e AIDS virus when being young meant pulling pranks one our friends, and your enemies, and when there was no real risk involved in being carefree and irresponsible.

That is not to suggest that the characters rep without river re ire toon, but at the same time I makes you long for the time when the closest you could get to burying yourself in technology was playing an Atari type baseball game in the palm of your hand.
