Review of Everybody Wants Some!! (2016) by Late R — 28 Apr 2018

'Everybody Wants Some' perfectly captures what being an American jock in the 80's must have been like, complete with a whole host of charismatic characters, infectious chemistry between the cast, and great attention to the details of the era, including the music which, as usual, is absolutely spot-on and really adds to the flavour.

But because of the rather specific premise, there will be those who get a real kick out of it, and there will be those who find it somewhat tedious at times, perhaps even downright foreign. The story itself doesn't really seem to have much of a point other than Linklater reminiscing on his own time in a sports team and saying "hey, this was one of the best times of my life, let me show you", but it's undeniably fun and nostalgic, even if it isn't quite as poignant or as interesting as some of his other work.
