Review of Every Day (2018) by Robert V — 25 Feb 2018
Just like every film that is aimed towards a younger demographic, we see a young dramatic romance unfold and kick around on screen. The concept was "new" but not exciting. It almost took the shape of "Freaky Friday" but confusing and too much to process.
The film would have done wonderfully if it was executed differently. Like any idea or plot in film, if put in the right hands and creative mind it can do wonderfully. Not saying it was the worst film I have ever laid my eyes on, but defiantly not a one of the films I wanted 2018 to start off with.
I found myself dozing off and couldn't connect or invested myself into the characters lives. The acting was awkward and the shots where very bland. Nothing was new about this movie other than it was another teen movie with a "heartwarming" story.
Usually when I find myself loving a film, I cannot get it out of my head and will almost crave to see it again. This film, however, sticks in my head because I disliked it so much. I honestly just wanted it to be a movie that I watched once and forgot about.
Being a teen watcher and lover of film, I try to stay open minded to every genre, so I am not saying it was bad because of the genre, I am saying it was disappointing because it took it too far. We can see how hard they are trying to make it a romantic drama.
Although it is an unrealistic idea, the way the characters acted out the situations should seem more realistic. The film is all about these two people falling in love, but there was such a lack of chemistry that all I saw where the actors.
Decent plot, just not a good take on the idea.
