Review of Everest (2015) by Matty M — 27 Oct 2015
While so many documentary movies have been made regarding MT. Everest and the lives lost taking on the challenge of climbing that beast. Everest 2015 being a 2 hour film I must say added a bit more personality to what was based on actual events. Other similar movies jumped right into showing you what the nightmare of trying to climb Everest is like with huge dramatics. I have to be honest about this film. It had long drawn out moments in the movie that made it a bit slow. This movie gave an insight on why each person was climbing the mountain and got an idea of what their personal lives were like before making that journey. Another thing to point out is that this version also includes the beauty of its native land while even reaching the base camp. With some recognizable cast like Jason Clarke, Jake Gyllenhaal, Keira Knightley and Emily Watson. This movie had its moments of laughter with random jokes and oh a scene where Jake Gyllenhaal is topless on the mountain drinking that reminded me of a certain other similar film. Everest is not on the top greatest films nor the bottom. The movie is more for documentary lovers with a tad bit of let me touch your feels in it. Everest is a decent movie.
