The effortlessly stunning scenery and gripping nature of this true story overcome some occasionally silly creative license taken by the filmmakers. Krakauer's book is really the most definitive account of this story, and while this isn't an adaptation of "Into Thin Air", the most essential details are depicted with palpable tension and sensitivity for the departed.
