Review of Event Horizon (1997) by Josh J — 20 Jan 2010
This is a movie that so clearly wanted to be better than it is. And it has everything in place to be a better film. Sadly, the execution is mostly void of any substance or soul, leading the film to end up being a hollow shell.
Now, sci-fi isn't typically the most soulful of genres, but there has to be an apparent love for what's being put on screen to pull it off. I really think Anderson loved the idea of this movie, but not enough to punch it up a couple notches.
Granted, I have no doubt that a studio exec somewhere had a hand in chopping this up as well.
