Review of Evening (2007) by Paul W — 14 May 2008
A film about a woman on a death bed, recounting dreams of her past experiences involving a series of men. Although the acting is sufficient, it is hard to judge considering the small cast and set that requires little diversity from the actors.
However Danes plays her role very well. This film falls down as it tries too hard to link past and present. While the story recounted in the dreams is engaging, the present day plot is not. Scenes of the latter feel like they are thrown into the film to pad it out.
The whole film would have worked without the present day plot, being shorter and better. It is a sad film not the chick flick it looks like.
