Watching these actresses have to speak lines as HORRIBLE and HORRENDOUS as these is pretty much unbearable. Really genuinely a bummer, because it's a lovely story and the women in this movie deserve only the best.
Alas, they receive nothing even close to the best. The only thing that saves the movie is the yum-tastic presence of Patrick Wilson and the mitigating factor that there is no "deathbed" speech from the dying woman.
