Review of Europa Europa (1990) by Ceph J — 05 Aug 2009
A moving and true story about a 16-year-old Jew who pretends to be German so acts as a translator for Hitler's army during WWII. The basic element here is survival at any cost which his father advises him to do.
There are more emotional themes like being true to yourself and finding one's identity in adversity. Marco Hofschneider is sensational in the lead role. A truly remarkable film by Agnieszka Holland.
