Review of Eternity and a Day (1998) by Ivy S — 22 Dec 2007
Oh, it's sheer beauty. Can't ever forget the deafening silence and the overwhelming emptiness of Angelopoulos' favourite long shots and metaphoric images. Soooo beautiful it aches. They say so much about life you cry (well, at least I did) Karaindrou's music and his images are a perfect match too. A quote from the booklet in the OST might be able to display what Angelopoulos did in this film:
'music drifted in the wind.
Someone touched colours and rthythms.
Remembrances and dreams.
Nostalgia and whispers of the soul.
And merged them into a journey.
Towards tomorrow, towards light'.
Eleni Karaindrou.
